Atherosclerosis and related diseases are a major health concern worldwide. The European Atherosclerosis Society's goal is to provide a framework for concerted scientific and clinical discussion of new developments in basic research, diagnosis and therapy of atherosclerosis. Our mission - to advance understanding, prevention and treatment of atherosclerotic disease.
EAS organises and participates in a range of scientific and educational initiatives, including:
- Publishing - Guidelines and Consensus position papers, handbooks and apps for mobile devices www.eas-society.org/publications. EAS official journal is Atherosclerosis.
- Scientific meetings - an annual Congress for approximately 2000 delegates, a programme of Advanced Courses for both basic scientists and clinicians www.eas-society.org/advanced-courses, co-organiser of the meetings of the European lipoprotein Club www.eas-society.org/elc
- Online education – training courses (including CME accredited courses), video podcasts, webcasts, quizzes and other educational material in the field of atherosclerotic disease www.eas-society.org/eas-academy
- EAS FH Studies collaboration - empowering the medical & global community to seek change in their respective countries or organizations regarding how FH is detected and managed, with a view to promoting early diagnosis and more effective treatment of this condition. www.eas-society.org/fhsc
Membership is open to physicians and scientists who carry out research in both basic and clinical science, in Europe and in neighbouring countries. Corresponding members, active in atherosclerosis research, are accepted from around the world.
